About this site
What we do, what we don't, and why you should believe us.
What is De Halal Hypotheek?
A publication about interest-free home financing in the Netherlands. We explain how halal mortgages work, what they cost, and where the market stands. Everything appears in both Dutch and English, and is free to read without an account.
Can I get a mortgage through you?
No. We are not a lender, mortgage adviser or broker, and we sell no financial products. We publish research and explanation so you walk into the conversation better prepared with someone who does. Always consult a licensed adviser before entering into any commitment.
Does a halal mortgage exist in the Netherlands yet?
There is no broad, scalable market yet. Regulators and major banks have examined it, but the Dutch legal and tax framework fits these structures poorly. That said, things are moving. We track who becomes active and on what terms.
How do I know I can trust you?
Because you can check the work. We show our assumptions with every calculation, we cite sources for claims about fiqh, legislation and provider terms, and we publish corrections visibly rather than quietly rewriting. When we are not sure of something, we say so.
Why do you publish in two languages?
Because our readers live in two languages. Every article appears in full in both Dutch and English, not as a summary. Switch language in the header and you stay on the same piece.
How do I keep up?
Through the newsletter. One email every two weeks covering what is changing in the market, which providers are emerging, and what it actually costs. No spam, and one-click unsubscribe, always.
